Ship 199

How often do you get to see the sunset from the water? We see it every time we go out. It's truly something special. Ship 199 is Troop 199's spin off naval element. Founded in 2025, we are based out of sailaway sailing school, in Captain’s Cove. This is where we keep our ship, the Kolga. We are open to anyone ages 14 to 21. If you are interested, reach out,

The Kolga:

The Kolga is an S2 9.2 class sailboat. It is 30 ft long, drafts 5 ft, and has a displacement of 10,000 lbs. With berths for 5, it is a great boat for us to start off in.

Plans:

Ship 199 may be brand new, but we have some big plans. Over the winter, we hope to get scuba certifications for our crew. This would allow us to expand our offerings to be below the water, not just on it. In the future, we hope to use these skills at Sea Base on a scuba live aboard voyage. Back here in Connecticut, we are gearing up for a long voyage or two at some point during the summer. These would be multi-night trips around the long island sound, and maybe beyond. To allow this, we are looking into taking control of the 42 ft. vessel Prometheus to replace the Kolga.
